Winter has returned with a vengence today. This has put paid to my gardening activities for the time being.
Monday was a nice afternoon when i got home from work so i finished painting the wall.I think it looks great.I've still got to paint the wall next to the kitchen roof but that will have to wait till this cold snap is over.I did notice some crocuses growing in a flower pot. That was a nice reminder that Spring is on its way and hopefully the long hard winter will soon be gone.Tuesday i had two teeth extracted so i didn't feel up to doing anything that day.On Wednesday i thought the nesting box i had put up looked really exposed on the wall.I couldn't imagine any birds wanting to live in there so i put up a basket above the nest with some ivy and another plant in it so hopefully that will grow down and cover the nest a bit and give the birds some privacy if they fancy living in there.Maybe not this year but hopefully next year.
I get quite a few visitors in the mornings especially, finches and tits and a robin comes in every day. Also i get the same blackbird visiting me and every evening at dusk he sits in a neighbours tree and sings. Its great.
I wood stained the worlds smallest shed on Thursday and the fench in the yard so that looks a bit better.I have decided to only have one pond after all.The first pond i made about ten years ago out of an oak planter that was lined with rubber. It is beginning to fall apart so when i have the new pond ready i'll transfer my fish Dude,Colleen, Dr Dirt and Bo Tiddly to the new pond and they will be splashing about happily in their new watery pooliverse .Then i'll mend the old one and revert it to its former use and grow plants in it.It will look great when its all done.
Friday it started raining so i didn't achieve anything and on Saturday it was too wet to go out there but i did clear everything off the window sill inside the kitchen and sowed some seeds in seed trays..I sowed lobelia, pansies, petunias,Swan River Daisies, nicotiana, anagalis, sunflowers and a couple of others that i can't remember the names of now.
Anyway, once the cold weather ends i will get out there and hopefully next time i write the new pond will be in place.See you later gardening fans.
