I had quite a good day today. It was a nice sunny day but
cold. I went over to visit a friend in Warminster. In the Lions Bookshop I
found two nice books. One was a biography of Iggy Pop called Gimme Danger. The other was a book by a
famous mountaineer called Joe Simpson. It was called Storms Of Silence and signed by the author. Those two books will go
in my bookshop this weekend. When I got to my friends house, she offered me a
glass of wine but I politely declined and had a cup of tea. That is because I
am on day 4 of Dry January.
On my way home again I started reading the Iggy Pop
book and found a nice quote by Patti Smith which was ‘Art + Electricity = Rock
n Roll’ which I thought was quite clever. Also, I was quite surprised to see
Iggy mention Van Morrison as an early influence (See picture) but when you hear
some early songs by Them I can see
what he means. I checked my emails when I got home and found I had sold a book,
a nice copy of The Decameron by Boccaccio.
I’ll post that on Monday. Early this evening I went to the pub, but I only
stayed half an hour. I had a coca cola and got bored so I came home again.
